Day Trip to Hastings Brief for North East Sussex CAMRA Social to Hastings
Venues to be visited: The Imperial, the Albion, the Jenny Lind, the Crown, the First In Last Out (FILO), the Dolphin.
Meeting point: Meet at the Imperial at 12:00
Itinerary: Meet at the Imperial, home to the Brewing Brothers. They now have three cask lines and when Simon and I checked it out there were two cask beers on. They also do excellent pizza which is very filling.

We then progress to the Albion. Dating from the 1730s the current building is from he 1830s. The interior was refurbished in 1930 when it was a Youngers pub and remains pretty much untouched from this time and is one of the few remaining examples of the Youngers corporate décor. Beer is Harvey’s Sussex Best and up to three changing. It also has a reputation for good pies.

Next we progress to the Dolphin. Originating from he late 18th century it was SE Sussex CAMRA community pub of the year in 2024. Four hand pumps dispense a selection of cask beer and flights of thirds are available.

Moving on we go to the Crown. It is a family run pub refurbished about 10years ago. There are four cask lines that dispense beer from local breweries.

Next is the First in Last Out known as the FILO: Known to many I know, this 19th century pub dating from 1896 is located in an old building dating from the 1500s. It boasts a lovely central fire which gives a cosy and warm environment in winter time. The original home of the FILO brewery it serves four of its own beers and two other changing.

Finally for those who have stayed he course we visit the Jenny Lind. Named after a 19th century opera singer this pub was substantially damaged during the war but was rebuilt opening its doors in 1951. Eight cask lines serve between 5 and 8 cask beers.

Travel: By train the 11:10 from Tunbridge Wells gets into Hastings at 11:47 and the Imperial is a short walk from there. Address; 119 Queens Road Hastings TN34 1RL.
